What is it?
An annual gynaecological check-up can be done without any complaints and aims to assess overall women's health. Menstrual pattern, contraception and family history are discussed.
In addition to the examination, ultrasound is performed when needed and age-appropriate screening tests are planned. Breast examination and referral for breast imaging may also be part of this visit.
The check-up interval differs according to age, health history and previous results; your plan is agreed together after the examination.
Who is it assessed for?
- Women who are sexually active
- People whose last check-up was a long time ago
- People with a family history of gynaecological cancer
- People who want information about contraception

Questions
Can I come during my period?
Tests such as a smear are better done outside your period. Mentioning your cycle when booking helps planning.

Yes, if you wish, a relative or a member of staff can be present.
Can people who are not sexually active be examined?
Yes. The examination method is chosen accordingly and an abdominal ultrasound may be used.
