Pregnancy Follow-up

From early pregnancy to birth, check-ups, tests and your questions are followed together within a set plan.

What is it?

Pregnancy follow-up is a check-up programme that regularly assesses the health of the mother and baby. Ultrasound scans, blood and urine tests and screening tests are planned according to the week of pregnancy.

At each visit, blood pressure, weight change and your symptoms are discussed, and questions about nutrition, exercise, travel and work are answered. The purpose of recommended screening tests and how results are interpreted are explained in advance.

Every pregnancy is unique; the frequency of visits and need for additional tests are decided with your doctor based on findings and your health history.

Who is it assessed for?

  • Expectant mothers with a positive pregnancy test
  • People who had problems in a previous pregnancy
  • People with a chronic condition who become pregnant
  • People who want to transfer their pregnancy care from another centre
